One night is usually enough for a smooth safari connection. Two nights gives you time for Arusha National Park, a coffee estate visit, or a slower start after a long-haul flight. If you are trekking Mount Meru, allow three to four additional days.
Arusha National Park is a compact wildlife area on the slopes of Mount Meru, around 25 km from the city. It’s known for walking safaris, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, hippo, warthog, elusive predators, flamingos around the Momella Lakes and more than 400 recorded bird species.
An Arusha National Park safari is possible year-round. June to October is the classic dry-season and Migration safari window, while January to March is ideal for launching into southern Serengeti calving season. November to May brings greener scenery, birdwatching and fewer visitors in some areas.
Most international guests arrive via Kilimanjaro International Airport, about one hour from Arusha. Arusha Airport, around 20 minutes from the city, handles domestic flights and bush connections to Serengeti airstrips and other safari regions.

Lake Manyara National Park is roughly two hours by road, Tarangire National Park around two hours, and Ngorongoro Conservation Area approximately three to four hours. The Serengeti National Park is usually best reached by bush flight, though road routes are possible depending on your itinerary.
