Celeste grew up on the Garden Route, spending most of her childhood living in Knysna and later in Sedgefield and George. She was not sure what direction she wanted to follow after school. She used to joke that she wanted to work at the tourist office and thought being a travel agent would be exciting. Towards the end of school PE Technikon held an open-day at her school and she found out about studying tourism. The rest, as they say, is history. Her dad’s idea of a family holiday was doing work around the house, so she saw this job as a means to travel and explore the world.
